For more info, contact your state advisor or the conference planner. Talent Show and Music with Reception Do you remember the CTSO’s Got Talent and dinner at last year’s state conference? This year, we are planning the Talent Show again, but instead of a dinner, there will be a reception with music, which is hotel code for a dance. The Talent Show rules, guidelines, and audition form are be posted on here. If you forget to print out an audition form before coming to the conference, or you decide to participate at the last minute, forms WILL be available at registration. You must provide your own music. Auditions are Thursday, March 27, at 9:00 pm, and the talent show is on Friday, March 28, at 7:00 pm. Please keep in mind that, even if you try out, only the top 5 will perform for everybody, but go for it anyway! A panel of CTSO advisors will be acting as judges. Now, as far as the reception goes, the rules are pretty much the same as any school dance. You’ll only be able to get in if you have the wristband you will be given at registration, and please keep the dancing appropriate. All advisors will be asked to chaperone. The dance will start shortly after the talent show, and end at 11 pm. Civic Projects Our state civic projects for this state conference are ‘Kid’s Bean Café’ and Restoring Su-Valley’s library. So, if your chapter is close to the conference (ex: Anchorage, Palmer, Colony), we ask that you hold a book drive at your local school; whereas if your chapter is distant (Kodiak, Valdez) we ask you pack one or two of your favorite books for easy transportation. Our target audience are high school students and the books should be in good to excellent quality. To raise money for the "Kid’s Bean Café" we are asking for each chapter to hold a "Money War" at your home school. This works by having jugs or containers for each of the graduating classes (freshman to seniors) and the type of money contributed either adds to a classes point total or subtracts: • Pennies are positive points • Silvers (nickels, dimes, quarters) all subtract points • Bills and checks are positive points The task is to sabotage all other classes with silver change, while boosting your own graduation class with bills and checks. Besides raising money this really works well for spreading the knowledge of CTSO and raising school spirit. The key is to have a prize for the winning group; for example Palmer High School held a pizza party for their 2008 graduation class last year in the cafeteria excluding all other groups.
